We are looking for an experienced PCB Layout Designer for a contracting opportunity in the Bloomington, MN area.  This immediate opening for a Contract Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Layout Designer will assist engineers in the design and development of complex, detailed layouts of printed circuit boards used in airborne and other demanding environments. In this position, the Layout Designer will be responsible for creating multilayer high-density printed circuit board designs using Mentor Graphics tools (Expedition PCB Layout, Autorouter, Drawing Editor, DMS, etc.) per Electrical and Mechanical Engineering input in a highly structured development environment. The fabrication drawing package will be created per IPC and/or Mil spec. 

• Performs detailed layout design and documentation of printed circuit boards
• Produces two-dimensional (2D) CAD work product output for fabrication and assembly
• Checks drawings versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standard engineering drafting practices and standards
• May create electronic library symbols, geometry, footprints, etc. using Mentor Graphics DMS
• Works under minimal supervision
• May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage
• Works from schematics, net lists, and basic description of the board function, constraints, configuration and arrangement as defined by engineering

• Bachelor’s of Science or Technical degree, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years’ experience; or Master’s degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• A Department of Defense security clearance is not required.
• Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Required qualifications include:
• Experience designing high-count multilayer complex printed circuit boards
• Be well versed in Mil and IPC Standards.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience specifically using the most recent and current Mentor Graphics tools:

• DxDesigner/ Expedition PCB
• Drawing Editor
• Constraint Editor / Constraint Manager (CES)
• Mentor Graphics DMS
• Valor Artwork checking tool
• Autorouter

Additional desired qualifications include:
• Teamcenter Archive tool experience
• Rigid-Flex layout knowledge
• Distinct knowledge of material requirements, fabrication techniques, and manufacturability concepts
• Distinct knowledge of design principles and techniques including computer aided design (CAD)
• Distinct knowledge of the strategic CAD and file management tools
• Demonstrates initiative, applies personal talent to practical solutions
• Works within the trade space defined (cost / schedule / technology)
• Able to accept and integrate constructive feedback
• Demonstrates the ability to weigh risks and make progress in the face of uncertainty
• Willingly takes on problems and commits to solutions
• Distinct written and verbal communications skills
• C.I.D. (Certified Interconnect Designer) is a plus
